Storytelling, Stigma and Advocacy

MPG understands the role of stigma in undermining the excellent work of organizations like yours. Much as we don’t want to admit it, stigma exists not just in external systems, but even within our own staff, interfering with their ability to be effective. MPG delivers education experiences specifically created to address stigma in the workforce through thought-provoking, interactive exercises and learning. You don’t have to let stigma get in the way of good people doing good work.

Peer Support

MPG offers extensive education for the Peer Support and Recovery Coach workforce, from foundational training like Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery’s full set of Recovery Coach curricula, to original training like Infinite Pathways of Recovery and Wellness and Storytelling for the Recovery Workforce. In addition, MPG has teamed up with Choice Recovery Coaching to offer over an additional 100 hours of training on topics like trauma, professionalism, ethics, and supervision.

Young People

MPG is one of the only organizations nationwide offering CCAR’s Recovery Coach Academy for Young People, created not just for young people to become coaches, but for adults to learn how to support young people using the Recovery Coaching method. In addition, MPG delivers an additional 24 hours of original education that equips adults in any field to empower young people through evidence-based approaches like motivational interviewing, self determination theory, the spectrum of attitudes, and strength-based principles.

Take It to the Next Level

We also offer Facilitator Training to supercharge your staff’s efficacy planning and leading groups.

Workshop Spotlight

Infinite Pathways of Recovery

Engaging the Infinite Pathways philosophy - the belief that recovery is as unique as every individual – MPG prepares peers and advocates to coach others in discovering their own tapestry of recovery.

Exercises include exploring personal definitions of recovery, cultural identity and indivdual needs so participants can learn how to incorporate these important aspects into their lives.

By encouraging participants to honor their own unique cultures, identities, beliefs and values, they leave with skills to support themselves and others in sustaining lifelong recovery.

How to use Storytelling in the Workforce

Sharing lived experience is one of the most effective tools for any professional or peer to help others, and yet few are trained how to do it.

This one-of-a-kind program breaks down how peers and advocates can most effectively use their lived experience in their professional roles.
